Tesla's heroic extended warranty The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was informed by Tesla that the country could switch entirely to electric vehicles by 2030, but it would be content with 69% of new car sales.

The EPA is accepting feedback from automakers as it completes its guidelines for the 2027–2032 vehicle standard emissions limits.

Currently, the suggested rules would cut new car emissions by 56%.

By 2030 and 2032, 67% of new vehicles will be electric, on average.

Tesla said in a recent submission on the regulations that the EPA should instead pressure manufacturers to make 69% of all new cars electric by 2032.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, loves the number 69 a lot.Tesla thinks its request is reasonable.

Elon Musk believes there to be a "sound legal basis for an even more stringent set of standards than EPA's current proposal" that might lead to the abolition of internal combustion engine vehicles by 2030.
